PostHeaderIcon What’s next… Obama to control your inbox?

Posted by Bobby Eberle, August 31, 2009 at 6:56 am

We have all witnessed quite a show since Barack Obama became president. Because the country was facing “crisis” after “crisis,” Obama and his team were more than happy to inject government into the private operations of banks, the auto industry, and energy sector.

But, of course, that’s not enough. Now with the latest cybersecurity bill making its way through Congress, Obama not only will have control over General Motors but could also have control over the Internet. With the power to “shut down online traffic by seizing private networks,” Obama would take one more piece of freedom and add it to his growing list of industries and activities which fall under government “supervision.” Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon Who Needs Death Panels? Just Use Government’s VA Checklist.

Posted by Bobby Eberle, August 25, 2009 at 6:58 am

Much is being made about provisions in Barack Obama’s health “scare” plan which suggest that seniors be denied care and be given counseling to prepare for the end of their lives. How scary is it that a government bureaucrat or panel could decide if your life is worth living?

Well, the Obama administration continues its effort, but this time the focus is a “do it yourself” checklist that is being provided to veterans to “help” them determine if they just don’t want to go on any more. The checklist works as a political push poll, steering veterans toward conclusions that normally wouldn’t be chosen. If this kind of practice is acceptable at the VA, just think what will end up in Obama’s health care laws if they pass! Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon Millions face shrinking Social Security payments

Posted by STEPHEN OHLEMACHER, Associated Press, August 24, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — Millions of older people face shrinking Social Security checks next year, the first time in a generation that payments would not rise.

The trustees who oversee Social Security are projecting there won’t be a cost of living adjustment (COLA) for the next two years. That hasn’t happened since automatic increases were adopted in 1975.

By law, Social Security benefits cannot go down. Nevertheless, monthly payments would drop for millions of people in the Medicare prescription drug program because the premiums, which often are deducted from Social Security payments, are scheduled to go up slightly. Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon You are the owner of two trains?

Posted by State Representative Kevin Petersen, August 22, 2009

While Thomas Industries was looking to consolidate its business in either Wisconsin or Louisiana, Bobby Jindal, Louisiana’s governor, was developing an incentive package and lobbying Thomas Industries for their investment and accompanying jobs.

At the same time, Governor Doyle, on a trip paid for by the Spanish Government, was in Spain looking at trains. The end result is Governor Doyle proceeded to purchase 2 trains with the state’s credit card (bonding) for $47.5 million. Louisiana will be receiving the 300 jobs that Sheboygan, Wisconsin is losing. Pay czar Kenneth Feinberg’s official government title is “Special Master for Compensation.” You’ll be happy to know that he’s really getting into the confiscatory spirit of his role. Asked by Reuters whether his powers include reaching back and revoking bonuses awarded to financial industry executives before his office was created earlier this year, Feinberg asserted broad and binding authorities — including the ability to “claw back” money already paid out. PostHeaderIcon Say Hello to the Diversity Czar

Posted by Bobby Eberle, August 18, 2009 at 7:26 am

Ever since the Democrats took control of Congress, they have sought to take control of talk radio… or to be more precise, conservative talk radio. You see… on radio, the market place (yes, left-wingers hate the “market place”) has spoken, and people love conservative talk radio. Not only that, but they hate liberal talk radio.

There have been multiple attempts to revive the so-called “fairness doctrine” by the Democrats which would force radio stations to carry left-wing talk shows whether the listening audience wanted them or not. These attempts were met with enough resistance, that the Democrats stopped trying to overtly bring back the “fairness doctrine.” However, that simply means they are trying covert methods instead… thus, the creation of America’s new “diversity czar” at the FCC… and this guy is a real doozy. PostHeaderIcon Young Voters Should Take Another Look At Obama

Posted by Michael Barone, August 17, 2009

Dear Young Obama Voter,

Congratulations. You have truly changed America. Those of you under 30 voted 66 percent to 32 percent for Barack Obama, an unprecedented margin. Your elders 30 and over voted for him, too, but only by a 50 percent to 49 percent margin. You converted a 2000-like margin to a solid majority and added significant numbers to the Democratic majorities in Congress.

You voted, as your candidate and our president said, for Hope and Change. But I ask you to consider whether the policies that the president has proposed and in some cases pushed through really amount to that. Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon Fiscal Misdirection

Posted by State Representative Garey Bies, August 16, 2009

Summer is coming to an end all too quickly but I hope everyone has had plenty of opportunities to spend time with friends and family in beautiful Northeast Wisconsin. But the end of summer is significant for another reason too: the effects of the new state budget are beginning to be felt.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been getting a lot of phone calls from members of local fire departments and emergency medical services regarding the new 911 tax the democrats included in their budget. The new tax levies a fee of 75 cents on every cell phone line or land line. The tax provision then establishes a new designated fund called “the police and fire protection fund” and stipulates that all revenues from this new tax be deposited in this fund. PostHeaderIcon Trust the Government

How much is one additional year of your life worth?

Or one more year of life for your father or your wife? For your child?

In Great Britain, the government has settled on a number: $45,000.

That’s how much a government commission with the Orwellian acronym NICE has decided British government-run health care will pay for one additional year of life for a British subject.

Think it could never happen here? Then you need to pay closer attention to what Washington is planning for your health care.

British Government Bureaucrats Literally Decide if Your Life is Worth Living
The British single-payer bureaucrats arrived at the price of an additional year of life in the same way they decide how much health care all British people will get, through a formula called “quality-adjusted life years.” Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon Angry White Men

Posted by Patrick J. Buchanan, August 13, 2009

To hear the Obamaites, those raucous crowds pouring into town hall meetings are “mobs” of “thugs” whose rage has been “manufactured” by K Street lobbyists and right-wing Republican operatives.

Press secretary Robert Gibbs compares them to the Young Republicans of the “Brooks Brothers riot” during the Florida recount.

But is it wise for the White House to denigrate and insult scores of thousands with the fire and energy to come to town meetings in August, and who appear to represent millions? Is this depiction fair or accurate? Read the rest of this entry »
